Cooking with Heart and Science
Send your 12-18 year old to our summer program July 15-19 and July 29-Aug 2, 2019

Is your kid obsessed with cookbooks and Food TV? Put that passion to good use and help your aspiring chef get some serious cooking skills. Watch your culinary enthusiast get confident with knife skills, roasting, searing, braising, and grilling. We’ll take trips to local farms to learn where our food comes from. We’ll learn the science behind cooking meat and kneading bread dough. We’ll discuss how to plan a meal and keep yourself organized in the kitchen. Even if your kid has never made grilled cheese, by the end of the week they’ll learn how to make dishes like crepes, salmon teriyaki, braised pork shoulder, roast chicken with porcini sauce, and the best pizza from scratch. And yes, there’ll be desserts of all sorts. Some goodies might even come home for you to taste. Besides extensive hands-on technique work, kids will get acquainted with food science, history, and the work of visionary culinary artists of our time.
